The Tubah Municipality is located in the Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. The municipality is historically rooted in the Grassfields civilization, known for its strong traditional institutions, communal values, and well-organized village structures.
Tubah is made up of several traditional villages, notably Bambili, Bambui, Kedjom Keku, Kedjom Ketinguh, Sabga, Fingie, Baforkum, and Jung. These communities were established through ancestral migrations and are governed by traditional rulers (Fons) who have played a central role in land administration, cultural preservation, and social cohesion.
With the evolution of Cameroon’s administrative system, Tubah was established as an administrative subdivision and later as a municipal council to enhance decentralization and local development. The creation of the Tubah Council marked a significant step toward improving governance, public service delivery, and community-driven development.
Over the years, Tubah has experienced steady growth, supported by agriculture, education, and trade. The presence of higher education institutions, particularly in Bambili, has contributed to demographic expansion and socio-economic development. Today, Tubah Municipality stands as a strategic local authority, combining traditional heritage with modern governance to promote sustainable development in the North West Region.
